Create Your Custom Vinyl Guest Book

We used the guestbook vinyl for my parents' anniversary party and had everyone sign their name and write a short message. Friends they hadn't seen in years left some especially wonderful notes. My parents now have it displayed beside one of their wedding photographs.

We put the personalized vinyl near the entrance to our reception with metallic markers and a small sign asking everyone to leave their names and a few words for us. I expected mostly signatures. Instead, people wrote actual messages. There was marriage advice from our parents, memories from old friends, congratulations from relatives and plenty of jokes from the wedding party. One friend somehow squeezed an entire paragraph onto his section of the record. By the end of the night, almost every available space was filled. Looking through all of those messages afterward felt like getting one more wedding gift from everyone at once.

Our wedding guests covered the vinyl with signatures and little messages. We have it displayed at home now instead of putting our guestbook away in a closet.

We wanted a guestbook we'd actually look at again, so we had the vinyl set out at our reception with metallic markers and asked everyone to sign their name and leave us a message. The morning after the wedding, my husband and I sat down and read the whole thing together. Some people wrote beautiful little wishes for our marriage, some left advice, and our closest friends naturally used the opportunity to write things that made us laugh. My grandmother's message is probably the one I treasure most. Now the signed record is displayed in our home, and every time I look at it I find another name from that night.

We used one of our wedding photos for the jacket and matching designs on the labels. It's blank with no music, but sitting on our shelf it looks like our wedding has its own album.

My coworker spent thirty years telling everyone stories about the garage band he had when he was eighteen. For his retirement, we found an old picture of the band and turned it into the front of his long-awaited debut album. The back had newer pictures from his career, while the labels on the black vinyl carried the fake album title. He opened it in front of the office and immediately started laughing. For a few seconds he genuinely wondered whether someone had found an old recording, but there isn't any audio on the disc. It's purely a personalized keepsake. That didn't bother him in the slightest. He carried it around for the rest of the party showing people his album and explaining that his music career had finally peaked at retirement.

I didn't want my photo printed over the whole disc. I wanted a normal black 12-inch record with my design on the center labels and matching artwork on the jacket. That's exactly how it came out, and it looks great displayed beside my turntable.

This started as a joke for my parents' anniversary. My siblings and I designed the jacket like an old-fashioned family album, complete with a dramatic photo of Mom and Dad on the front and deliberately serious album artwork on the back. For the black vinyl itself, we created custom labels using their names and anniversary date. The funny part is that once everything arrived, it looked much less like a joke than we expected. Dad carefully pulled the record from the jacket and asked what was on it. Nothing—it's a blank vinyl with no music—but explaining that somehow made everyone laugh harder. They now have it displayed with their actual records, and Dad keeps telling visitors it's the family's rarest release.

He's joked about releasing an album since college despite never recording a song. For his birthday, I gave him the album anyway—custom jacket, labels and classic black vinyl included.
